Vibe Trader - Help & Documentation

Overview

Vibe Trader is a cryptocurrency trading simulator that combines real-time order book data from HyperLiquid with TradingView charts from Binance Perpetuals. Practice short-term trading strategies risk-free with simulated $1,000 starting balance.

Getting Started: Paper Trading

Paper trading is the default mode - no setup required! Start practicing immediately with simulated funds.

Step 1: Open a Price Ladder

When the app loads, a BTC ladder is already open. Click + Add Ladder in the header to add more coins (ETH, SOL, etc.).

Step 2: Set Your Order Size

At the bottom of each ladder, use the Order Size input to set how much you want to trade. Default is 0.001 BTC.

Step 3: Place Your First Trade

Go Long (Buy): Click anywhere on the left side (green bid column) to place a buy order at that price.
Go Short (Sell): Click anywhere on the right side (red ask column) to place a sell order at that price.

Step 4: Watch Your Order

Your order appears as a colored marker on the ladder. When price reaches your level, it fills automatically. Check the Journal button to see your orders and positions.

Step 5: Close Your Position

To take profit or cut losses: place an opposite order (sell if you're long, buy if you're short), or click Flatten to close at market price instantly.

Step 6: Cancel Orders

Right-click on any order marker to cancel it. Or use Cancel Buys / Cancel Sells buttons to cancel all orders on one side.

Pro Tip

Orders placed away from the current price are Maker orders (you get a 0.02% rebate!). Orders that fill immediately are Taker orders (0.05% fee). Place limit orders for better fills!

Getting Started: HyperLiquid Live Trading

Warning: Live trading uses real funds. Only trade what you can afford to lose. Start with small sizes until you're comfortable with the interface.

Prerequisites

1. A HyperLiquid account with funds deposited
2. An API wallet set up on HyperLiquid (separate from your main wallet for security)

Step 1: Create an API Wallet

Go to app.hyperliquid.xyz/API and click "Create API Wallet". This generates a new wallet that can trade on your behalf but cannot withdraw funds.

Step 2: Approve the API Wallet

After creating the API wallet, you must approve it to trade for your main account. Follow the prompts on HyperLiquid to authorize the connection.

Step 3: Export the Private Key

On the API page, click "Export Private Key" for your API wallet. Copy this key - you'll need it for Vibe Trader. Never share this key with anyone.

Step 4: Configure Vibe Trader

Click the Settings (gear icon) button in the header. Under "HyperLiquid Trading":

1. Main Wallet Address: Paste your main HyperLiquid wallet address (0x...)
2. API Wallet Private Key: Paste the private key you exported in Step 3
3. Click Save for each field

Step 5: Select Trade Mode

In Settings, under "Trade Mode", choose:
Paper Only: All trades are simulated (default, safe for practice)
Auto: Uses live trading if configured, falls back to paper
Live Only: All trades go to HyperLiquid exchange (real money!)

Step 6: Verify Connection

When properly configured, you'll see "Live Trading Active" in green at the bottom of Settings. Your live balance will display in the header.

Step 7: Start Trading

Place orders the same way as paper trading. Live orders show a "LIVE" badge in the Journal. Orders sync with HyperLiquid in real-time.

Security Notes

- Your private key is stored in your browser's localStorage (never sent to our servers)
- API wallets can only trade, not withdraw - your funds are safe even if the key is compromised
- Clear your keys from Settings before using shared/public computers
- Consider using a dedicated browser profile for trading

Shows all pending limit orders across all ladders.

Open Positions

Shows current open positions with entry price and size.

Closed Positions

Detailed trade history showing:
- Entry and exit prices
- Maker/Taker status for each leg
- Fees paid on each trade
- Gross P&L and net P&L after fees
- Trade timestamp

Copy JSON

Exports all journal data as JSON for external analysis.

Data Persistence

Your balance, orders, positions, and trade history are automatically saved to your browser's localStorage. Data persists across page refreshes but is cleared when you click Reset.

Trading Tips

Ideal Long: Price above VWAP + RSI not overbought + Support holding

Ideal Short: Price below VWAP + RSI not oversold + Resistance holding

Risk Management: Always set stop losses. Use the flatten button to exit quickly if the trade goes against you.

Avoid: Chasing entries, averaging down on losers, trading without a plan.

Fee Structure

Simulates HyperLiquid's fee structure:

Taker: 0.05%

Charged when your order fills immediately (market orders or aggressive limits).

Maker: -0.02%

Rebate when your order adds liquidity (resting limit orders that get filled).

OpenAI API Key

Enter your OpenAI API key to enable AI trade analysis. Your key is stored locally in your browser and only sent to OpenAI.
